OUR OWN DESIGN OF A TREE MACHINE
We had to design and manufacture our own Tree Machine to ensure that it was strong enough to adjust our longer and stronger gullet plates. Not only do all of our saddle fitters have one installed in their vans, but we also encourage our clients to purchase one, and they will receive a free five-day saddle-fitting clinic.
This not only guarantees that our clients can keep their saddle(s) properly fit as their horse(s) make positive muscular/skeletal changes, but it also allows them to assess other saddles in their stable or area—it can be a very profitable part-time or full-time job.
How to adjust your Saddle
One of the biggest complaints I hear from our clients and other riders is that their saddle, which once fit their horse perfectly, no longer fits. To complicate matters further, they can’t find a saddle fitter to properly refit that almost-new saddle.
For saddle fitters, getting back to a customer who needs a saddle refitted can be difficult, as their rotating schedule may not allow them to refit that saddle on time.
For that reason, we are offering a free five-day saddle-fitting class twice a year. If at least five people are willing to attend, we will travel anywhere in America to teach it.
We will provide information, consisting of a video and a 34-page booklet, prior to attending that class.
There will be much to cover over that class, which may run into 10-12 hour days.
The class will consist of one day of theory covering the horse’s anatomy. There, you will learn the scientific and layman's names (e.g., Brachiocephalic, or the neck’s under-muscle) for all the muscles and bone structures that are important to identify for correct or compensating development and how to correct saddle fit can help the horse correctly develop the strength of those muscle groups.
The second day will be a hands-on day where we will look at many horses to help you identify the muscular/skeletal system you had learned the previous day. You will learn about the mechanics of the horse’s movement and why some horses have developed muscle atrophy while others may have correct muscular development. You will also learn why a rider’s present saddle prevents the correct mechanical movement to allow the horse to build the correct musculature and why some saddles are incorrectly designed or fit, preventing a horse from developing that correct musculature.
We will adjust saddles that require it for free so that the horse’s owner can give us feedback on how they feel before and after the correct adjustments.
The third day will demonstrate how we adjust the gullet plate of the saddle to fit the wither correctly. We will then learn about the asymmetries of each horse's muscular development and what we do to the saddle to help the horse track correctly, give the rider a balanced position, and reduce the muscle groups exhibiting atrophy.
Tools of the trade
Each attendee will learn how to reflect a saddle to balance it from front to back and side to side and address the horse's asymmetry.
They will also learn how to use a tree machine to change the shape of the saddle's gullet plate.
[This may all seem too complicated, but I have had over a hundred students, mostly women, attend these classes and have watched them become excellent saddle fitters in a very short period.]
After completing the class, additional information will be exchanged, and many questions will arise. Past attendees have sent videos of issues they encountered, used Skype to consult about a saddle-fitting problem, or exchanged pictures of horses they needed clarification on.
Eventually, most of the people who attended those classes could adjust their saddles and the saddles in their and other stables. Some even went on to be very successful saddle fitters.
In addition, for those who want to continue their education and would like to represent C. G. Reupert products, this can be a financially rewarding vocation.
We make all our tools of the trade’ plus the tree machine, which we sell at a very reasonable price.
